My parents refuse to let me cut my hair?

I'm 13 already

And I think I should be able to do what I want with my hair

They won't even let me cut in half an inch

I don't know why

I just want a new style, I'm tired of it being boring

At this rate, the next time they say no, I'm gunna cut it.

I have figured out what i want to do with my hair

And I have researched this for a long LONG time

Trust me, over a year

And they still say no,

They say "your not old enough, your not the bus driver your the passenger [which means if my household is a bus, my parents would be the one who controls out house]

And I'm okay with being controlled on some things,

Its just the little things they won't let me,

Cutting my hair will make me a different person in looks, and yeah the cuts a little bit strange BUT THEY HAVENT EVEN LOOKED AT IT AND THEY SAID NO

Please, what do I do to convince them...

I'm near the scissors

I would cut it myself, but I can't reach in the back of my head and make choppy layers =[

i would try talking to them again. tell them it's not like you're asking to go to a friend's house party or for 80 dollar jeans. I have 3 daughters who are little still (8,6,and 5) and when they get to be your age-if they want to cut their hair-as long as it's not something crazy and they don't want to dye it like bright pink-i'll let them do it.

it's good for your self esteem to try something new. do you fix it every morning or does your mom do it for you? if you do-then i don't see what the big deal is.

do you have relatives or an older friend (or friend's mom) that can take you to the salon to have it done? as a mom, i don't usually encourage going against your parents but i think they are being silly on this one.

try to get someone else to take you to have it done-don't do it yourself!!! but try talking to your parents again-communication is important!!!

if you want a new style, you dont have to cut it. and whatever you do, dont cut it yourself. it will be disasteous, trust me. just crimp it by braiding it at night and taking it out the next day. or curl it with rollers or a curling iron. or just try some new styles.

Oh no, don't do it. I was exactly like you, 14, (minus the parents bit - well, I sort of bought the haircutting scissors, came home and said I'm going to cut my hair and they were like well don't complain if it goes wrong...) and I cut my hair with an image in mind and....okay, it didn't look awful. But I thought it was awful after a month, the layers were slightly lopsided, and I persauded my mum to let me get it done at the hairdressers.

DONT DO IT!

Save up money and go to a hairdressers! Or - I doubt this'll work given the nature of your parents - tell them you'll cut it yourself if they don't tkae you to a hairdressers :P If you do go there, take the picture with you - and seriously, they'll do a better job than you.

Dont go against what they say! there are loads of ways to style your hair without cutting it! change your parting! change the side that your fringe lays! Its not the end of the world, just wait a few years ok? If you really are that desperate then just tell them that they are being unreasonable and that you are your own person.

I dont think this problem have much to do with the hair cut , they can see their little girl growing up and they just dont want to let go .Many parents feel this way they are frightened you will grow up to fast and then eventually leave home its a scary prospect for them. Try and sit and discuss with your parents on this matter. Try and talk to your parents in allowing you to have the haricut that you have been longing from. You should seek for your parents view on what kind of style that they would prefer on you. Avoid from having strange hairstyles cos parents do not like them anyway. Show them various hairstyles from the magazines which you think will suit you best. Ask for their opinions and also comments on the examples. Dont act according to your anger but do it calmly which will give you positive results. Try to get your parents attention by persuading them that if you have the said haircut, you will feel more confident in yourself and it will make you feel good.Good luck.

Maybe you should try asking them why they are against you having your hair cut, would they be willing to compromise on the style, or you could accidently get chewing gum stuck in your hair then it will have to be cut.
