I need a new men's hair style:?

OK so I'm a rock musician my whole life. I've had long hair, I've tried short hair, etc etc. Now I'm 33 and slightly balding (not too bad yet but its there), and most hairstylists recommend a short hair style, so that the balding isn't as obvious. The problem is: I'm a rock musician, I like long shaggy wild out-of-control but with-style hair. So what does one do?

1) Get short hair cut, dye it blue and/or shave symbols into it

2) Grow it really long, so you can't see the bald spot in back, but the receding hair line in front is still noticeable.

3) Grow it medium length, layer it, use lots of product, and have sort of a mad-scientist-meets-rocker look

4) shave it bald, and maybe grow the goatee back

Additional info: I am dirty-dishwater blonde, and have a young face, more the cute-cherubic kinda face than the angular-handsome face.

A hair style that I like for guys is the "faux hawk".

Leave the sides short like half a inch, and the top a bit longer (1.5 inches)so you can spike it up the middle like a mohawk, but its more wearable because the sides aren't shaved.

Thats a tough one. I have a friend that is a rock musician and he hasnt had a haircut in 12 years. He loves his long hair, always has and always will. So if you've always had long hair, I understand how hard it would probably be for you to part with that so my suggestion is keep it long, dont get it cut. Let it grow long enough to cover your bald spot and I dont think the receding hairline in front will matter. When you have that much hair, people are gonna comment and the hair you do have, not the small spot in front where there isnt any. KEEP ON ROCKIN!!!

try something to thicken your hair -- nioxin products, flax oil (omegas 3 and 6 are good for hair thickening) something like that. hair products can often be the reason you are thinning. check for alcohols and waxes in your shampoos, conditioners, gels, etc. if your scalp isn't healthy and happy you don't get healthy happy hair. when you are younger your cells rejuvinate a lot faster -- by 35 they don't so much anymore so you have to help them out.

idk, that short of hair, you cant do much, try getting it french braided, since its short, it will probably stop at the base of ur neck, that might look cute.

If you really like him, don't risk him liking you in return by saying negative things about him. You should like him for more than his hair ... and just remember that it can be fixed. Smoothing Syrum (I recommend CHI). It is definitely worth the buy for frizzy hair. I swear by mine.

Use tons of "Suave just for men gel" its cheap and works! My hair was sooooo unbelievabley frizzy then i tryed that and now I have nice defined curls! TRY it its a life saver! :)

Leave-in conditioner! You don't even have to buy a special leave-in brand, I use a drugstore moisturizing conditioner and just don't rinse it out. Gel your hair while it's still pretty wet, and scrunch it dry with a soft old T-shirt, not a towel - assuming you've got curly hair, if it's straight I guess you wouldn't scrunch. Don't blow dry it!

hair first, thats my specalty. lol! ok, so wen u 1st get outta the shower, put ur hair up into spice girl buns on the top of ur head, but not perfect ones. just scrunch ur hair up into them, and add tons of hairspray and moose, or sum type of gel. add gel occasionally, until ur hair is completley dry. then take all the buns out, and put more gel on ur hands and start scrunching up ur hair w/ur fingers. it'll look like this super-sexy version of a type of crimp.

with your height i would say, wear burmutta shorts, and longer-ish shirts w/popular logos like volcom and other things that seem 2 b popular @ ur school. if u wear skirts, dont wear the really short 1s, or evry1 will assume rite away that ur a slut. u DEFINTIELY dont want that.

as to the hair issue, i think that keeping ur hair blonde is a gr8 idea, instead of dying it brown. go for something more strawberry blonde. wear lighter tones of make up if u wear any @ all, and wear earrings that arent huge hoops, which are another dead give away of a slut. most of all, the most helpful fashion tip i can give u, is B URSELF! if ppl cant luv u 4 u, they're not worth it sweetie! just remember that, b confident in urself, and ppl will luv u. also, im a converse fan, so wear either those or sk8er shoes. etnies r wuts in rite now. I suggest that you straighten your hair with side swept bangs... it looks really good (that's the kind that I have). If you're not super skinny, then I suggest that you don't wear any skinny jeans (although they look really cute with tunic type things)... I think you should wear low cut off jeans and really cute shirts. Anything that is pretty tight and layered. No big shirts if you don't want to look tomboyish. You don't need to worry about high school... just keep up the fashion trend that you have now, and you'll be fine

Well... i wouldn't dye your hair because then you would have to dye it over and over to keep it looking natural.... maybe some brown highlights..... and for clothes.... bermuda's and Polo's are really in style.... plaid Bermuda's with solid color t-shirt... and your hair would look great layered and a little longer than shoulder length!

You should go 5 shades lighter and then straighten your hair out with a cut of about 10cm. This will high light your eyes. Have your eye brows shaded lighter or high lighted too the same colour of your new hair colour. Use a lighter shade base on your eyes and darken the cheekes. I got turned off wrestling and disgusted by how they killed any respect to wrestlers that have gone through hard times to get where they are by immediately giving him a push by winning nearly every single match and having him always as champion beating all the top names. Still this ridiculously massive push has not helped him to be any more enjoyable to watch. The only reason i have heard why some fans like him are ones that are female and say he is hot. He wrestles a brawling style, that's why it's punches and kicks. If you hate Cena for that, then you should hate the Rock %26amp; Austin %26amp; Foley too, because they employed the same style. Besides, movesets don't mean a thing, if you're a good wrestler, then you can work with a thousand holds or a couple of strikes and slams, and Cena has done so.

And Cena's big push is all due to the writers, many of whom panicked over the less of the biggest wrestlers and pushed all of their young guys straight to the top instead of letting them take the ropes in the midcard, and plus if new wrestlers don't work, they simply drop them instead of letting them ride the wave.That's why people like Cena, Orton and the younger guys seem so awful yet pushed to the top when compared to the Attitude Era guys, because they were never fully developed for a top spot and now the WWE decides who the next top star will be instead of the fans. So now we're stuck with Cena enternally at the main event because he sells, and the WWE have no other new top face to back him up.

I have very thick brownish hair, and I attempt to give myself a textured, messy, matte. look with regular hair gel. Hair gel doesnt really give me a messy textured look at all. It just makes my hair greasy, hard, shiney, and gross. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good matte products, that gives a natural look, and that also gives me that textured messy look. Also, should I ask my hair stylist to cut my hair a certain way to achieve this look?? Right now my hair is all one length. Should I get a more choppy cut for this style I'm going after????

To get the control of gel without the hardness, use pommade-but only a little or your hair will look greasy. Put a littl eon your finger tips and run through your hair and mess it up. It is great stuff and you can get it at the drugstore.

The best product I have found for this is by Joico it is called Con-text Pliable Paste. It really rocks and gives you a great texture but no shine, is a matte finish and stays maleable. Also ask your stylist if she can texture the ends of your hair...a razor would do this best but she can point cut into it or just use some texturizing scissors to lighten up the ends and give you a more choppy look.

Side swept bangs look great on anyone. You must not have much time being a mother and all, so the side swept look with be perfect. it is extremely versatile and makes you look like you spent a lot of time on your hair even if you didn't. And the look great with your hair up in a ponytail. They look even better with your hair down.

It would also help to cut your hair short, about shoulder-length. Consider getter soft layers and tapering it in the front. The taper will help your side swept bangs transition into the rest of your hair!

I think your problem isn't that you need a different cut. I think you need some help styling. I also have curly hair and I am a licensed cosmetologist. I have had my hair every length and every cut and the longer it is, the better the curls look. First things first, you should never brush your hair when it's dry. You need to get out of the shower and either use a pick or a wide tooth comb to get the tangles out. Then, put mousse in your hair and scrunch it up a little bit. You can use a diffuser or you can let it air dry. A diffuser just gives you neater curls. Good luck!

Ok i have really thick hair so think infact that i have yet to find a clip large enough to hold it up and when i fix it my main options are wearing completely straight OR mousing it down while wet and letting it kink. Okay well you can go to the hair dresser and ask them to thin out your hair, and when they do that they make layers to fine out your hair. Try that, also just putting moose in your hair, and scrunching it, making it curly would look okay too.. :)

and for formal ideas, after the "thinning out" ty putting your hair in a half bun, all in curls. then some curls falling down.

I have extremely thick hair, which is naturally curly. I currently have bangs but the faster they grow the better. (They're at the bottoms of my ears now). But anyway, I usually just get it cut one length and with no real style. But you see, I'm starting high school and want to have a stylish hair-do. Too many layers and I'll look like I have an afro and thinning it makes it worse. So anybody have any ideas or links or pictures or anything? I would really appreciate it. My hair is brown (I've never dyed it) and is about an inch and a half below my shoulders when straightened and about half an inch below my shoulders when curly.

Well I have the same exact hair your talking about lol. I normally straighten it in the winter %26amp; scrunch it in the summer/spring. ( scrunch is when you use gel %26amp; or moose ) Just saying. But i think you shouldn't have it really long and your length it pretty good. Just keep doing what your doing. But my advice, get the bangs off. A lot of people don't have them anymore and it's just a pain in the neck. Good luck !

If your highlights are faded, you might want to get them touched up so they show.

Long hair looks best with layers; my hair is almost to my waist and I like a lot of layers that blend together. I have had a few bad cuts where it looks like shelves of hair at the back, so be specific with your stylist. I also make sure I am clear about the length; I like my hair long b/c hair shorter than my shoulders gives me triangle head. I have had stylists who didn't believe this and cut too short. So be very clear with them!

But if you are experimental and don't care about length, go for broke and get something fun!

your description of you hair is pretty general but i'm assuming your hair is thick. frizzy and puffy is usually caused by they way you sleep or how your hair is dried.

your bangs curl when they're long as most hair do, or you're sub consciously getting it out of your face. you'd probably be able to get that hairstyle and yes, it'll fit an 18 year old.

what products should you use? i'm not really sure what you want to use whatever product for, but shampoo and all should be the same.

you need to get your hair layered slightly. if you hair is curling out in the front, you'd have to straighten it. try not to straighten your ahir too often, it might cause split ends and other undesirable stuff. you can use colour show liss cream(url's down there)

which helps straighten hair a little, but not to a large extent. it DOES fight frizz well. at least for my hair. it's thick too. VS sasoon's straightener is very reliable, though a little costly. straighteners are more or less the same. it's up to your personal preference really.. model, design (if it matters), brand.. but for the record, sasoon's work perfectly fine.

your bangs probably won't really straighten out a whole lot until they're about as long as your chin or something, usually because it isn't 'heavy' enough to hold itself down. but i don't think you want em to grow THAT long right?

the thing with straighteners. sometimes if there's too much heat, you damage your hair and they may get a little crumpled. really. (you might not want to try that) and if it's over done, you may look like you've just rebonded your hair, and come off as unnatural. one way to straighten your bangs a little is to blow dry it. stick out 2 fingers, and as if you're cutting them with your fingers, hold it down from the root to the tip with the hair dryer following the downward motion.

(almost as if your fingers are the straighteners)

It really depends on your face.. do you have a long face, short face, skinny face, chubby face? If you have a long or chubby face, short hair wouldn't look good. If you have a big forehead then side bangs make it look smaller. It all just depends on your looks. Short hair could look good on someone that doesn't have a chubby face, and look like crap on someone that does.. get it? I would take some pics that you like to a professional and get their opinion, they would know more about it.

i had that done i got dark hair too but it does get annoying after a while you can't really do any thing with a bob unless that's the idea.... but it does look nice =) and it's a lot less hassle so go for it =) x

I like the idea of the short bob, i think its a good modern look and for your age too. Try a sleek chin-length style one if you got for that though, sometimes bobs sitting on your shoulder can drag your face down a bit. Or if you did have a slightly longer bob, have layers put throughout to give it a bit of lift!

If it is long or boxy, you could try lots of layers with shoulder length hair so you can wear it down or up with little maintenance.

If you have a small, round face try an angled cut: super short in back slanting dramatically toward your shoulder/ collarbones in front. Looks cute with a headband, head wrap or barretts. It can also be left down with minimal maintenance.

I would wait to grow out your bangs then cut it, or else if you cut it now, your hair might turn out to be total crap. And I don't know if you should try it yourself, but you can definatly bring a picture like that to your stylist. Hope this helps!

Ok a short jagged cut that's a bit longer in the front will help to frame your face, especially since you have prominent features.

Bangs would look nice on you if they're longer and side swept. Also, I would darken your base just a tad. Go for a Chocolate Brown, which will definitely make your eyes pop. If you wanted something totally different you, could even do Blond. Like a Sandy Brownish Blond.

You have really pretty hair already! I wish mine was like that! Um, I heard that if you have wavy/curly hair that, instead of regular layers, you should get the top %26amp; sides angle layered. That supposedly helps enhance waves %26amp; give the hair more of a shape.

On anyone, really, I think curls are really pretty. But, believe it or not, it depends on the color. If you have brown hair, I would suggest one length, to the shoulders, and maybe a slight angle in the front. (That is what you could turn the bangs into.)

If you have red or blonde hair, it may be good to go real short, maybe even chin length.

Try getting bangs, like straight across bangs. It changes your look, and it's easy to manage with fine hair(as in you won't have to worry about frizz and flat ironing them). Don't pay all of your attention to layers, they can only do so much, and leaving length looks great with bangs.hope this helped.

look at various hair style magazines - your hairdresser probably has a big stack of them. also, if you want your thick hair to look cute, and be easier to manage, there are some hairdressers who specialize in customers with thick hair. be careful- if you cut it too short, your curls might be very crazy %26amp; tangly!

I have long curly red hair and it's been cut in layers. My problem is, that it is so long that the weight pulls all the curl out so it's more wavy than curly. It is also flat and straight down to my ears.

I love my curls and want to work with what I have. I've spent years straightening and trying to make it do things that it just won't do.

now to answer your question, i recomend you get more layers, starting higher up your head, about chin length. some hair dressers may call those shorter ones angles. next, i'll say that the top part of your hair may need more help than just a cut, you may need to put a root-lifting product in it, they aren't hard to find, just walk down your hair care aisle and look for a root-lifting spray, that's how they come. finally, i'll tell you that to keep your curls from being wighed down, the two major things you need to do are condition with one that says it won't weigh your curls down, like loreal vive, and you need to trim your hair more often than others to keep the curl forming through the end.

I have the same problem when I grow my hair out...its the worst. The cut that works best for me is a shoulder length cut...slightly layered and its angled in the front (to give it a little style). It doesn't change how I style my hair either (just some styling product and my frizz-ease hair spray). If you want to keep your hair long you might want to try scrunching your hair while your head is flipped upside down that way it may not lay so flat on the top. That's how I use my hair spray (I flip my head upside down and spray so the curls set bouncy and not flat).

You can try everything, but nothing is gonna make it grow "faster"- its gonna grow at the same rate it always has.

I have pin straight hair too- your not alone. If i wanna curl or have my hair wavy, I take a shower before i go to bed and put my hair in a tight bun. because your hair is short, you might have to make 2 buns and put them down low...but make them as high as possible. (comb your hair before you do this)

In the morning they will prob still be a little damp- DO NOT BRUSH you hair. it'll make it look really frizzy. put some anti-frizz (i recommend john freeda) and then some curling styling gel and then a little hairspray.

Slow Down! First, try to increase blood flow by exercising and such. Then, everyone's hair grows at different paces some people , like me, have fast growing hair. Others have slower growing hair, like my mom. Trim your ends so your hair doesn't spend too much time trying to repair them.
