my blonde firend went thought the emo phase and dyed it black.

it was nasty and blonde roots would stick up and then she would dye her roots and her hair went all thin and limp.

I would suggest getting some very choppy layers to achive the style you want.

and use some stlying gel or wax to create a "peicey" look by breaking it into chunks and rubbing a bit of product around it.

don't do anything with it...roll out of bed and go like that. emo is about being depressed isn't it? If you're sad, do you really want to do your hair? Plus, if you refuse to do your hair your parents will notice. They will say "Do your hair mindy!" and you will say "it's too long....I just don't know how. It'd be easier if it weren't so long." or you can go out and buy some dye and grab a friend...what are your parents going to do? ground you for a week? Maybe if it's an awful color they'll let you cut it off or go to the salon and get it dyed. ahahah

Somehow, Somewhere, people decided that "emo" meant "emotional," which is bullshit seeing as though 99% of bands make music to illicit emotion.

Emo actually comes from the early 90's where there was a movement in the hardcore genre that came to be known as "Emotive Hardcore"

Hairstyles like this are also easy to tame, no brushing required just run your fingers through your hair in the morning, mess it up with some hair wax and you're good to go.

Why don't you try getting some red highlights, or *dip* your hair in red. If your not sure what that is look it up or ask you hairdresser for examples.
