I need a haircut NOW! My style is growing out (short Victoria Beckham type style) It's getting late and I am desperate to look decent when I go out this evening.

Can't get a salon appointment for now. So what do you think? To chop or not to chop?

put it up in a nice way and you will look great im afraid you will cut it too short if you cut it yourself plus, u cant see the back of your own head! dont do it just to be safe!

I wouldn't advise it, there is a reason people go to hairdressers. It would be very easy to mess it up then that's your night out knackered. I'm sure you'll fine x

Im completely obsessed with my hair and im so fussy as to who cuts it cos if someone makes the slightest boo boo thats me in tears.

Make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing.

Remember if u make a mess of it yourself u have no one to blame but yourself

i only trim the front bits of my hair by myself cos there shorter but not the back...dont cut the back it mite be wonky just cut the shorter bits on top or at the front and i sure you look fine anyways!

oh no please don't. i cut my daughters waist length hair and she needs to go see a professional. go out and walk into any hairdresser and see if they can fit you in. I'm sure at this time they could give you a dry cut. even if people have got some positive tips, who is to say you are capable of doing the same. leave the scissors in the drawer!

i cut the front of my hair before it didnt look good id say ask someone to do it for you my sister tried to make herself a fringe before and it took six months before she looked vaguely normal

well this one time(or maybe it was 3, oh well) i had a ponytail on the top of mah head and i kinda sorta chopped it off and it gave me a mowhawk. haha yea good times good times.

I got my boyfriend to trim my hair - simple job, it's only a straight bob - but he made such a mess of it, different lengths both sides, so I had to do it myself. Made a reasonable job of it, but not as good as the most inexperienced trainee hairdresser, so I'd go and find someone to do it for you.

Dont - I did this once and made a real mess of it - ended up having to get loads cut off to put it in shape again as well as paying for a re-style ! Just ruffle it up with some styling products and head out, I'm sure it will be fine !

Don't do it. I have cut my own hair for over 15 years now but I used to be hairdresser. Unless you have some training or a natural ability to visual where the hair is going to fall, it is too easy to cut too much and end up with a short disaster.

I would recommend going to the chemist - Boots / Superdrug and finding a new styling product - something you haven't tried before and using this to give the hair a new look. Get some interesting clips - if you like.

You could also try some colour gloss that most store bought colours now have a range in and give it some shine and a hint of tone - no peroxide. This would mean going for something as close to your shade or clear as possible. This would give you a different look and also enrich the texture to make it more manageable.

You could also try an alice band for a different look.

errrr, my bangs were growing out they were getting below my eyes so I just grabbed them and chopped them off. I didn't even think about it, just off of impulse. Now they look very blunt, but there not that uneven at all and I get alot of compliments:) But I wouldn't recommend doing it with my whole head.

Dont go there ! honestly you will feel worse if you make a mess of it. Put your hair up and buy some clasps etc if fringe is long. I cut my fringe and really really regretted it !

NO don't cut it yourself, not even us hairdressers cut our own hair. just wash your hair with volumising shampoo and conditioner then apply a volumising mousse onto it whilst it is still damp (not ringing wet) then blowdry with head tipped upside down then when nearly dry blowdry with your head up by pulling the paddle brush straight down your hair. finish off with a bit of wax and volumising hairspray and your hair will look shiny, volumisied and will APPEAR shorter.

No chop. When I was younger I used to trim my hair if I didn't like the style and had to live with the consequences. I did cut my hubbies hair when we first got married and he looked like a monk for weeks.

Yes, I took the scissors tae ma heid in 1977 when punk rock wiz big!! I made a right pig's ear of it and my mum had tae finish the job. I ended up with the coolest spikey hairdo in the school!!!

as it certainly gives us business later, you would not believe how many clients i see who have decided to cut there own hair, it has to be a good % of clients, as you have a victoria beckham A line bob, you would certainly mess it up, then back needs to be cut properlly for the style to sit and look right

if its one night give me a pair of tongs and 10 mins and you would be the most glamerous female going out, and you could do this yourself, there is no success storys or none i have seen anyway
